Stories from Sweden, told by its people.
Concept, Scriptwriting, Production
The Swedish Institute already had an active Youtube channel, but the content lacked creative direction. On the premise that a country is defined by its people (and not a government institution), we created the concept “Stories from Sweden”. The idea was not for us to sit around and brainstorm our way to a rosy picture of our country, but instead get out there and let interesting individuals — from the passionate to the quirky — show us the real Sweden.
We produced a four-part documentary series, each film centered around the core pillars of the Swedish Institute: Sustainability, Innovation, Society, Culture.
Sara, founder of Klädoteket, leases vintage clothing to sustain Gothenburg’s insatiable desire for fashion in
a more sustainable way.
Tomas, known as the “gender photographer”, uses images to expose cultural stereotypes of how we portray men and woman differently in the media.
Birgitta lives all alone in the Swedish mountains, 11 kilometres from the closest road. Now, 80 years old, she reflects on her life and about finding a place to call home in our society.
